Will stand up comedy stir my acting career (drama way from me)

Basically, I'm proffesional trained and i have an agent, but i'm not doing enough, I think i`m extremely funny and i have jokes however.. I'm abit afraid to enter the realm of stand up comedy because I want to focus on drama where my pion is @, but i know stand up comedy has a way of making a breakthrough for performers only problem after that is you're known as the "funny guy" aka "Dave Chappele, Chris tucker, Chris Rock, Richard Blackwood, Lenny henry"... which is NOT the direction i want to head in, is there something i can do to do stand up comedy but stir it still into serious acting roles? rather than the funny guy. I`m 20 years old so i thought perhaps dressing espically smart to gigs might help, all advice appreciated.
