How does the disappearance of all the fungi and bacteria affect the fish population in an aquatic ecosystem?

A lot of fish live off of eating small organisms like fungi and bacteria and that would mean that those organisms that eat the fungi/bacteria would die out. Then the organisms that eat the organisms that eat fungi/bacteria will die out and so on.
